Obituary: Clara Huhtala. Clara LaCynthia Provost Huhtala. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died January 28, 1998 in Provo, Utah, from complications of surgery. She was 41 years old with 35 years of experience. Born October 9, 1921 in Midway, Utah to Luke and Clarissa Brunson Provost. Grew up in Midway and was fondly known as "Butch". She married her lifelong sweetheart, Edwin E. Huhtala on December 5, 1944. Clara worked many years in the clothing industry as a supervisor at JoLenes, Pykes Manufacturing and also in the medical records department at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Accomplished seamstress, quilt maker and record keeper. Clara loved people and saw the good in everyone. She especially loved spending time with family and friends, going "down south" and The Jazz. She shared a special relationship with each of her grandchildren, always accepting and encouraging, but never judging.


She is survived by her husband, Ed, of Orem; daughter, Linda (Bill) Walton, West Valley; son, Edwin C. (Susan) Huhtala, Orem; daughter, Barbara (Tom) Houghton, North Salt Lake; 13 special grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille (Alvin) Kohler, Midway; Violet (Stan) Sabey, Orem; many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and one grandson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 1998, at 12 noon in the Hillcrest 3rd Ward Chapel, 1450 South 800 East in Orem. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State in Orem and also Saturday one hour prior to the services at the ward chapel. Interment will be in the Midway City Cemetery.
