"Mrs. Martha M. Chase of Gladstone, widow of the late Amos Chase, died suddenly from heart attack Tuesday morning at the home of her niece, Mrs. Lloyd M. Hill of Salem, with whom she had spent a week.

Mrs. Chase was born in Atlanta, Mo. January 21, 1864, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Myers, pioneers of Missouri. She had made her home in the northwest for many years, and was one of the early school teachers in Eastern Oregon.

For the past 30 years Mrs. Chase had made her home with her sister, Mrs. Laura B. Moss, of Gladstone, her husband having died many years ago.

Mrs. Chase is survived by three brothers; Robert A. Myers, Independnce, Ore.; Mark M. Myers, Gladstone; two nieces, Mrs. L. M. Hill, Salem; Miss Hilda Moss, Gladstone, Oregon and other nieces and nephews in Missouri, California and Montana.

The body was taken to the Walker and Howell Mortuary, and funeral services are to be held at the Holman and Hankins Chapel in this city, Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Vault Internment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery."

****Death certificates indicate she was the daughter of Robert Miller Myers and second wife, Elizabeth H. Dameron, siblings: Laura Belle Myers Moss; Mark M. Myers, Robert A. Myers and Arthur B. Myers.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. this Friday from Holman & Hankins chapel for Martha M. (Tillie) Chase, 75, a Gladstone resident since about 1924, who died suddenly Monday night while visiting in Salem. Rev. Wilbur H. Hensley, pastor of the Gladstone Church of Christ in which Mrs. Chase was active, will officiate, assisted by Rev.R. L. Putnam of Hillsboro, a former pastor of Gladstone. Vault internment will take place in Mountain View.

Mrs. Chase, who made her home with her sister, Mrs. Laura H. Moss for many years both in Idaho and Oregon, had gone to visit her niece, Mrs. Lloyd Hill (Mabel Moore), at whos home she died. She also had visited a brother, Robert Myers, at Independence.

Born in Atlanta, Macon County,Mo., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Myers, Mrs. Chase was given the name of Martha Matilda. She came to Oregon as a young girl to teach school in eastern Oregon and later returned to the west.
She was married to A. Chase in Colorado, and went with him to live in Idaho, where he passed away some years ago. She returned to Oregon in 1922 with Mrs. Moss, and after a year or two in Oregon Citry located in Gladstone.

Mrs. Chase was for 15 years or more the secretary of the Myers clan composed of descendents of her seven older half-sisters and brothers who came to Oregon in covered wagons.

She is survived by the one sister, Laura D. Moss of Gladstone; three brothers, M.M. Myers of Gladstone; Robert of Independence and A.H. of Atlanta, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews, including Miss Hilda Moss of Gladstone, Dr. John W. Myers of Oregon City; and Mrs. Lloyd Hill of Salem.
