Winford Eugene Murphy, 75, died Dec. 10, 2010, at his home in Walnut.

He was born to Thadeus Clarence and Brannie Lucille Greggs Murphy on July 10, 1935, in Drummonds, Tenn.

He was a retired contractor and construction worker for Cordova Floors. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Walnut. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was especially fond of his boxer bulldog, Bull.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Harmony Baptist Church in Walnut with Bro. Jay Houston officiating.

Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery in Walnut. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Fullilove Murphy of Walnut; four daughters, Patricia Wilbanks (Jimmy Ramer) of Ocean Springs, Phyllis Oaks (Billy) of Walnut, Nancy Jean Murphy of Memphis and Cindy Gross of Dumas; one son, Rocky Murphy of Olive Branch; one sister, Carolyn Houston of Walnut; eight grandchildren, Christina Martini of Ripley, Chad Wilbanks (Mary) of Fulton, Billie Jean Oaks, Samson Blade Oaks, both of Walnut, John Curtis Martini of Florence, Ala., Destiny Gross of Dumas, Wade Murphy of New York and Morgan Murphy of Memphis; and two great-grandchildren, Caden Wilbanks and Issac Martini.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Willie Murphy and Peggy Murphy; and four brothers, J.C., Junior, Tommy and John Howard Murphy.

Pallbearers will be Billy Oaks, Jimmy Ramer, Chad Wilbanks, Alton Sides, Gene Spencer and J.W. Dollar.
