A Graveside Service honoring the life of Ms. Houston will be at 2 PM Saturday April 28 in the Medlock Cemetery near Ashland with Bro. Paul Adams officiating. A vistiation for family and friends will be one hour before services. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
Born December 5, 1942 in Memphis, TN, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Fanny Lucille Griggs Murphy. Ms. Houston received her education in the Munford TN Public School System and continued her education at Northwest Mississippi Community College earning her degree in Cosmetology.
A member of Canaan Baptist Church and a homemaker throughout her life, Ms. Houston was employed as a beautician for 15 years before her retirement.
Ms. Houston will be remembered for her love of family, friends, cooking and watching her favorite food networks and mysteries on television. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Jay Houston (Seresa) of Corinth and James Houston (Peppa) of Ashland, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Willie Smith and Peggy Jean, five brothers, Clarence, Thomas, Junior, Winford and John Howard.
