Ethel V. (Mosteller) Altemose, 86, of Brodheadsville, died Wednesday, April 2, in the Brookmont Health Care Center, Effort. She was the loving wife of Forrest E. Altemose. They would have observed their 57th wedding anniversary this month.
Born in Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Carrie (Slutter) Mosteller.

She had worked at Valerie Fashions in Pen Argyl and Wind Gap for more than 20 years, retiring in 1982 and previously she had worked at a curtain factory and a hosiery mill in Stroudsburg.

She was of the Lutheran faith.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving children: Charlene V. Burger and her husband, Russell, of Effort, Henry F. Altemose and his wife, Joan, of Kunkletown, and Dale W. Altemose and his wife, Marlene, of Stroudsburg. Ethel is also survived by her loving sister, Emma Bartholomew and her husband, John, of Saylorsburg and her loving brother, Kenneth Mosteller and his wife, Roberta, of Stroudsburg. Ethel has four grandchildren: Russell Burger Jr. and his wife, Candy, of Kunkletown, Bruce Burger and his wife, Caroline, of Gilbert, Scott Burger and his wife, Kelly, of Effort and Joy (Altemose) Floyd and her husband, Warren, of Phillipsburg, N.J. She also has four great-grandchildren: Darrin, Derrick and Samantha Burger of Kunkletown and Shelby Burger of Effort; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Amos, Stewart and Owen Mosteller.
