Funeral services for Mrs. H.C. Melton, 75, were held at Roby Church of Christ Friday at 2:00 p.m. George True Baker and O.D. Dial officiated.
Mrs. Melton died at the Hamlin Hospital Thursday morning after a long period of illness. She was born Annie Belle Stringer, January 25, 1881 in Palo Pinto county
She was the daughter of Cameron and Lillie (Wheeler) Stringer and married Henry Clay (Clay) Melton in Palo Pinto on October 25,1897.
Mr. and Mrs. Melton moved to Roby in 1907. She had been a member of the Roby Church of Christ since 1911. She was known for her faithfulness to her church, her family, and her friends. She was preceded in death by one son, Guy Melton, in 1908.
Mrs. Melton will be missed by her family who all cherish the memory of her love and unselfish devotion. She indeed taught and led by example. Survivors include the husband, two sons, Dick Melton and Arlon Melton of Roby; five daughters, Mrs. Fila Campbell, Mrs. Eula Feagan, Mrs. Ora Bennett, and Mrs. Ola McGinnis of Roby, and Mrs. Claudean Smith of Dallas; one sister Mrs. Adelle Farrar of Elgin, Okla; two brothers, Alex Stringer of Graham, and Dick Stringer of Monahans;14 grandchildren and 27 great-grand children.
