Hazel Lockhart Farris, age 87, went to be with Jesus on June 1, 2006, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center, Corbin, Whitley Co., KY

Hazel was a born again Christian and had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ her Savior and Lord.

Hazel was born March 10, 1919, in Benham, Harlan Co., KY She was preceded in death by her parents: Benton Marion Lockhart, Sr and Nellie Jane Black Lockhart; an infant son, William Dean Farris; brothers: Walter B Lockhart, Benton Marion Lockhart, Jr and George Edgar Lockhart; and sisters: Flora Mae Lockhart Wilson, Gladys Lucille Lockhart Bentley and Ora Marie Lockhart.

Hazel is survived by her husband of 58 years, married November 26, 1947, in Corbin, KY, to William Eugene "Bill" Farris, of Corbin, Kentucky; her daughter, Billie Jean Farris Brown, and her son, Bruce Edward Farris; son-in-law, Ronald Lee Brown; and daughter-in-law, Karen Lisa Gregory Farris; grandsons: Zachery Tyson Brown, Andrew Jared "AJ" Brown, William Ethan Farris and Bruce Ehren Farris; sisters: Lillian Irene Lockhart Redmond, Lela Imogene Lockhart Roaden (Raymond) and Beulah Lockhart Randale (Lewis)

Visitation: 1:00 pm until the funeral hour, Sunday, June 4, 2006, at the O'Neil Funeral Home, Corbin, Whitley Co., KY

Funeral Service: 3:00 pm Sunday, June 4, 2006, at the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel

Interment: Pine Hill Cemetery, Corbin, Knox Co., KY



Hazel worked at the YMCA located on Depot St in Corbin, KY for many years until the facility closed in 1968. She worked at the Quality Shop, a ladies' clothing shop, on Main St in Corbin, KY until she retired in 1981.

Hazel attended and taught a Sunday School class at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Corbin, KY and sang in the church choir for many years. She was a member of Central Baptist of Corbin, KY at her death.

Hazel loved nature and loved to be outdoors. She loved to garden and to raise flowers in her yard and she loved her rocks. She loved the beach, the sea shells, the sun, the sand, and the water, where she and her husband enjoyed their vacations.

Hazel's favorite color was green. She painted many things green over the years. Give the woman a paintbrush and a gallon of her choice color and you better not stand still or you will be painted green.

Hazel loved her family...her children and her grandsons meant everything to her.

Hazel most of all loved the Lord.

Hazel had a stroke in June 1998 which affected the left side of her body.
