BAXTER Funeral services for James Lewis Leftwich, 65, of Baxter will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 7, 2001, from Chapel Baxter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Leftwich died on Friday, Jan. 5, 2001 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center Emergency Room.
He was born on February 15, 1935 in Putnam County to the late Joe Lewis Leftwich and Velma Ward Leftwich of Cookeville. Mr. Leftwich worked in construction of bridges and dams until becoming disabled. He was a veteran of the US Army and was of the Church of God faith.
His family includes his mother, his wife Virginia Ruth Maddux Leftwich of Baxter; two daughters: Sheila Scott and Freddie Judd from Baxter; and Karen and Tony Helm, also of Baxter; two brothers: Eugene Leftwich of Baxter; and Delano Leftwich of LaGrange, Ga.; his sister Barbara Dean Gower of McEwen, Tenn.; four grandchildren: Jamie Scott, Jeremy Helm, Kayla Helm, and Josh Scott; and one great grandchild: Blake Scott.
