Helen May Kuefner, 82, of Earlham died of Pneumonia Wednesday, July 5, 2000 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Services were held July 8 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel, with burial at Bear Creek Cemetery.

Helen Kuefner was born in Decatur, Neb. and had lived in Dexter and Macy, Neb., before moving to Earlham 26 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of Bear Creek Friends Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Peter Holbrook; two daughters, Mary Edna Holbrook and Terri Roxanne Holbrook; one brother, Ralph Tiege; and a grandson Wesley Holbrook.

She is survived by her husband, Albert; eight daughters, Alice Judevine of Carter Lake, Karen Crom, Linda Canova, Mary Jane Holbrook and Gayle Wickwire, all of Omaha, Elaine Boyll of Moreno Valley, Calif., Kay Huffman of Decatur and Kelly Larson of Redfield; seven sons, Frank Holbrook of Houghton, La., O. Bud Holbrook of Panora, Peter Holbrook of North Sioux City, S.D., Doug Holbrook of South Sioux City, Neb., Dwight Holbrook of Stuart, Dale Holbrook of Guthrie Center and Dean Holbrook of Perry; a sister, Irma Powley of Pender, Neb.; 38 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
