Evalena Laird-Jones, 90, of Vidor, Texas passed from this life on Friday, February 27, 2015 and returned home to her Heavenly Father. As the foundation and matriarch of the Jones family she dedicated her life to the care of many, imparting the gospel message of Jesus into each and everyone she encountered. It was rare that anyone left her presence either unchanged or unfed. It is with great solace that even in the final moments of her beautiful life she acknowledged the presence of God with her. Her legacy of love and ultimate devotion founded a deep and diverse family. she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Herman Jones (brother of George Jones), and son Lamar Jones. She is survived by her children, Patricia LeDoux of Vidor, Peggy Smith of Vidor, Evelyn Havard of Kountze, Clara Blankenship of Vidor, and Ethel Jones of Vidor and their respective families which include numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday March 2, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.
