Mrs. Jane Isabel Godfrey Johnston, born December 4, 1931 in Ware Shoals, South Carolina, and beloved by all, was called home by the Lord on Thursday, August 29, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Young Godfrey; her mother, Mamie Evelyn Whitman Godfrey; her brothers, Walter Ansel and Charles Gerald Godfrey; her sister and brother-in-law, Reba G. Landreth and Leck Landreth; her brother-in-law, William Robert (Bob) Johnston; and a nephew, Gerald Keith Landreth.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, (USAF Ret.) Danny R. Johnston of Cartersville; her daughter, Nancy (Jeff) Brant of Kingston; her son, Charles (Kathy) Johnston of LaVista, NE; her sister-in-law, Evelyn (Jan) Holliday of Belton, SC; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Godfrey of Ware Shoals, SC; her sister-in-law, Pat Johnston of Donalds, SC; her brother-in-law, Deane (Rhoda) Johnston of Honea Path, SC; six grandchildren Heather (Dane) Hunter and Amanda (Anthony) Tadajewski of Cartersville, Melodee Brant of Savannah, Marlowe Brant of Nashville, TN, Scott (Ashley) Johnston of College Station, TX and Dan Johnston of LaVista, NE; and two great-grandchildren, Alec Barger and Grace Hunter of Cartersville.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at The Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with the Reverend Charles Ivey officiating. The family will receive visitors at 16 Wesley Trace, Cartersville, following the interment.
The family wishes to extend a special debt of gratitude to Carol, Marcie, Lenora and Kim with Transition Hospice Care; Rekay Clark, David Kim M.D. and staff who provided comfort and care.
