Violet Jewel Ayres, 91, of Topeka passed away on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. She was born, July 27, 1918 in Topeka the daughter of Arthur and Hattie (Hogan) Husted.

She lived all her life in Topeka. She was a member of Seaman Southern Baptist Church since 1969, and a member of the Womens Group at the church.

She was married to Victor L. Davison and later to Robert Lee Ayres. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ayres, son, Gary Ayres, daughter, Judy Porter, grandchildren, Jewel Carter and Marvin Freeman and her sister, Gwendolyn McClain.

Mrs. Ayres is survived by her children, Sandra Davison of Topeka, Thela Freeman of Topeka, Pam Brooks of Wichita and George Ayres of Topeka; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 25th at Davidson Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Topeka.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service beginning at 12:30. Mrs. Ayres will lie in state from 12-8 on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Seaman Southern Baptist Church in care of Davidsons. Virginia Ayres
