William (Billy) Denham Hurst, 31, of Phoenix, Ariz., and formerly of Marshall, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at Scottsdale Health Center-Shea Hospital in Scottsdale, Ariz. Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Meadowbrook Funeral home in Marshall with Bro. Ron Segers officiating. Interment will follow at Algoma Cemetery South. Billy was born Feb. 8, 1976, to Gary and Jacquelyn Erhard Hurst in Mesquite. He graduated in 1994 from Marshall High School as a Texas Scholar. Billy enjoyed helping people and trained as a Basic EMT, First Responder and Landing Zone Coordinator as well as being a member of the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Department. Billy volunteered his services in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina, serving there for three weeks. He worked as a Security Guard at Le Tourneau in Longview and General Cable in Scottsville prior to moving to Phoenix, where he resumed his career. He is survived by his fiancee, Carol Kohls of Phoenix, Ariz.; his mother and stepfather, Jacquelyn Erhard Bean and Donald Bean Jr. of Marshall; his father, Gary Hurst of Marshall; his brothers, Jon Hurst of Marshall; Kenneth and wife Crystal Ballard Hurst of Longview; his beloved nephew, Samuel Hurst of Longview; uncles Dwight Hurst of Mineola, John R. Hurst of Longview; His stepgrandparents, Donald and Betty Towle Bean of Mattoon, Ill.; stepaunt, Tina Bean Dennis and husband David Dennis of Downer's Grove, Ill.; step sister Donna Jeannette Bean of Mattoon, Ill.; and numerous cousins and friends. His grandparents, Kenneth and Gloria Hoye Erhard and Farris and Irvine Denham Hurst preceded him in death. Pallbearers will be his brothers, Jon and Kenneth Hurst, Ed Clickard, Scott Calvin, Randy Allen, and Jonathan Tharp. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis and Bryan Hurst, Howard Robertson, Ronnie Anderson, Ricky Mitchell, Dan Anderson, Bill Anthony and Rodney Washington and the members of the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations be made in Billy's name to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas; Shriner's Hospital in Shreveport, La. or to the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Department. Visitation will be held at Meadowbrook Funeral Home Sunday from 3-5 p.m. in Billy's words, "Come as you [are]."
