He was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran faith and confirmed o March 16th, 1913, in the Lutheran Church south of Ohiowa by Rev. Walter Feig.
He moved with his parents to a farm near Bruning, Neb., in March of 1904.
He spent his early years working as a farm hand until November 26, 1924, when he was united in marriage to Ella Wolfteich. Their union was blessed with two daughters and a son. The couple started their married life on a farm north of Ohiowa, later moving to a farm near Strang and at Martland and to their present home southwest of Geneva.
He took great pride in his farming and livestock and in the appearance of the farm. He loved his children and especially his grandchildren.
They became members of the Zion Lutheran Church in Shickley after moving to a farm north of Martland in about 1938 in which he was still a member.
On his 78th birthday on November 24th, 1974, they were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.
On February 12th he entered the Fillmore County Hospital and later moved to the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln where he passed away on February 23, 1976, at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 29 days.
He is survived by his wife, Ella; daughter, LaNora and husband, Allen Headrick of Shickley; son, Lamber and wife, Virginia of Geneva; and daughter, Virjean and husband Waldo Schinzel of Geneva; five grandsons and five granddaughters. Also he is survived by two sisters, Martha DuBois and Elsie Reinsch, both of Geneva, and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were conducted from the Zion Lutheran Church at Shickley at 2 p.m. Wednesday February 25th, 1976, with Rev. Ivan Peterson officiating.
Dick Rosenquist sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “Sweet Hour of Prayer,” accompanied by Stanley Johnson.
Pallbearers were Wilber Anderson, Art Toren, Clarence Reinsch, Kenneth Koch, Henry Hesse and Dean Schinzel.
Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery.
