Ernst married Ethel Mary Sigler, my father's aunt. Ernst is the correct spelling, although some later records Americanize it to Ernest.
Ernst was the first child of German immigrants Diedrich Anton and Auguste Glave Havemann. His mother died when he was an infant, and his father remarried to Bertha Glave, sister of Auguste.
Ernst married Ethel Mary Sigler and started his family in Anaconda, Montana. They had four children, Augusta "Gussie" Jeannette, Edgel "Bud" John, Ernst Diedrich Jr., and Margorie. Ernst owned or managed laundries throughout the Northwest, moving his family from Montana to Seattle, WA, Couer d'Alene, ID, Bend, OR, back to Anaconda, MT, then finally to Weiser, ID. He died during a flu epidemic in 1926.
Ernst was very proud of his German heritage, and made beer and traditional German foods for holiday celebrations. He also collected stamps and coins.
