Helen Jean Harryman Banks, 82, of Low Gap, left to be with her Lord on Monday, September 1, 2014 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, NC.
Jean was born on September 27, 1931, to the late Mazie Morris Thacker and Edgar Harryman. She attended and graduated from Hillsville High School and worked and lived in Carroll County for most of her life. She was employed by the Carroll County School Board until her retirement. She and her husband, Early, then moved to Low Gap, NC. She attended Round Knob Baptist Church in Fancy Gap where she and Early taught Sunday School and headed the Youth Group for many years.
Due to illness, she moved to Heritage Health Care in Elkin, NC. Her husband Early joined her there later and still resides there.

Jean was a loving and kind woman with a generous heart and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her mother, Mazie Morris Thacker; her father, Edgar Harryman; and sisters, Ethelene Harryman Warf and Margaret Harryman.

She leaves memories to be cherished by her beloved husband of 65 years, Early Banks, Elkin, NC; loving daughter, Karen Banks Hodges.

Services will be held at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Friday, September 5, 2014 with Brother Roger Pickett and Pastor Bobby Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Heath Banks Cemetery.

Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family of Mrs. Banks.
