William Early Banks, 86, of Low Gap, formerly of Hillsville, left to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, N.C. Mr. Banks was born on January 30, 1928 in Carroll County, Virginia, to the late William Posey and Lilly Virginia Webb Banks. Mr. Banks was also a veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired farmer and was employed by Burlington Industries as a production worker until his retirement. Then he and his wife, Jean, moved to Low Gap, N.C. He was an active member of Round Knob Missionary Baptist Church in Fancy Gap for over 45 years where he served as Church Clerk, Sunday School Teacher, and sang bass in the church choir. Due to illness, he moved to Pruitt Health Care in Elkin, N.C.
Early was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Helen Jean Banks; his mother, Lilly Virginia Webb Banks and his father, William Posey Banks; brothers, Blaine Banks, Chester Banks, and Cassell Banks; and sisters, Oleta (Dixie) Banks Kieffer, Arlene Banks Meredith, Rubye Banks Marshall Webb, and Hazel Banks Fariss.

He leaves memories to be cherished by his Loving daughter Karen Banks Hodges and husband, Danny of Low Gap, N.C.; one special grandson, William Daniel Hodges of Bridgewater, Va.; a loving granddaughter, Amanda Bare and husband, Jason; and two great grandchildren; brothers, sisters and spouses, Cosby Horton of Radford, Tom and Lorna Banks of Leeds, Alabama, Mary Alice Dalton of Virginia Beach, Va., and Jo Ann Sechler of Matthews, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 17, 2014 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on with Pastor Bobby Webb and Brother Roger Pickett officiating.

Burial will follow in the Heath Banks Cemetery.

Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family of Mr. Banks.
