Mrs. Nancy Cates, 88, a resident of Ellensburg since 1912, died at the Morris Sorensen Memorial Hospital, Saturday, May 10. She had been in the hospital for the past two years.
Born Nov. 12, 1869 in Rogersville, Tenn., she was married there to Jesse Cates, June 17, 1907. He preceded her in death in Ellensburg in 1938.
She is survived by a half-brother, T. A. Harrell of Ellensburg and three half-sisters: Mrs. William Packwood and Mrs. Laura Springer, both of Ellensburg, and Mrs. Alice Prater of Seattle. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
She was a life-long member of the Baptist Church. Prior to entering the hospital she had made her home at 301 Washington Street for 28 years.
Funeral services will be held at the Evenson Chapel, Wednesday, May 14, at 2 p.m. Rev. Arthur Sanford will officiate. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery.
