Charles Cleveland Hamrick, Sr., 97, of 204 Panaview Drive, Gaffney, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of the late Olga Barner Hamrick and son of the late Kester Hamrick and Geneva Huskey Hamrick.

He was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School in Boiling Springs, N.C., attended Gardner Webb University, was a farmer, and retired from Duke Energy. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps World War II veteran stationed in the Philippines, formerly served on the Gaffney City Council, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He was a member of West End Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon, chairman of deacons, Sunday school teacher and served on the building committee for the current Church building.

Surviving are a son, Charles C. "Cleve" Hamrick, Jr. and wife, Laura Sanders, of Gaffney; two daughters, Pat Hamrick Hegler and husband, Robert, of Kershaw, S.C. and Laura Hamrick McElroy and husband, Milton, Jr., of Suwanee, Ga.; a sister, Adger Miller of Gaffney; six grandchildren, Jamie Harris and husband, John David, Jeremy (Bud) Hamrick, Robert Sowell Hegler, Jr. and wife, Brene, Carol Marie Hegler, Hamrick Milton McElroy and Caitlin Rene McElroy; five great-grandchildren, Jackson Harris, Tucker Harris, Madison Hamrick, Bryce Hegler and Nolan Hegler.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Hamrick and Horace Hamrick and three sisters, Eloise Greene, Reba Hawkins and Velma LeMaster.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, 2015 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodney Cook and Mr. Claude Cobb officiating. The family was at Blakely Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, 2015. Interment, with military honors, was in Frederick Memorial Gardens. The family received friends immediately following the service at the graveside.

The family will be at the residence, 204 Panaview Drive, Gaffney.
