FLY CREEK — Mrs. Nellie Y. Trainor, 74, of Fly Creek, died early Tuesday morning, Dec. 15, 1998, at M.I. Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.

She was born on Aug. 19, 1924, in Fly Creek, a daughter of Orra C. and Nellie Mariah (Adsit) Goodspeed. She married Douglas V. Trainor on Oct. 12, 1943, in Cooperstown. Mr. Trainor died on May 28, 1968.


A lifelong resident of Fly Creek Valley, Nellie attended Cooperstown High School. She spent her life as a homemaker and enjoyed a simple country lifestyle. For the past 17 years she had resided at The Meadows.


Nellie was a member of the Fly Creek United Methodist Church, the Home Bureau of Fly Creek Valley, and for more than 50 years was a member of the Fly Creek Valley Grange No. 790. She had enjoyed her craft work, most especially painting and needlepoint.


She is survived by one daughter, Mary Louise Eravi of Oneonta; four grandsons, Shannon Trainor, Daniel Trainor, Eric Trainor and Steven Eravi; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mrs. Vera R. Ainslie of Fly Creek and Norma and Hugh Van Benschoten of East Springfield; two uncles and one aunt, Dick Clayton and Bill and Josephine Adsit, all of Cooperstown; and several nieces and nephews.


A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown, with the Rev. Douglas Burleigh, chaplain of Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Fly Creek Valley Cemetery.


Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7 p.m. until service time when Nellie's family will be in attendance.


In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial donations may be made to the Activities Fund, care of The Meadows, 140 County Highway 33 W, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326 or the Fly Creek United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 128, Fly Creek, N.Y. 13337-0128.


Arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.
