Carrie Glenn married David H Briggs on 23 September 1888, in Marion county Indiana against the aproval of her family. The Glenn's being a very prominent family in White river township of Johnson county Indiana, her Grandfather Archibald II Esquire, was a judge and one of the pioneers of the township and holder of several county government offices including Chairman of the board of Justices. her father Archibald III was postmaster general of the town of Glenn's Valley in Perry township of Marion county indiana.

in the 1820's David Henry left his wife, leaving her to live with their Daughter Dorothy (Mrs Manley Brown) and David never having legally divorced Carrie, contravercially took a lover 28 years younger than himself.
Martha Carrie is burried near her father and Grandfather in the cemetery that is on land that once a small part of the land owned by her Grandfather Archibald Glenn Esquire. it is a very large cemetery, but the plots her family are burried in are very close to the small chuch building.
