David Henry Briggs was born in Jan of 1865 to Harrison and Mary (Messersmith) Briggs. He was named after his Grandfather Henry who died when his father Harrison was still only 5 years old. leaving Harrison to be raised by an Uncle William Briggs. So David never knew the Grandfather for whom he was named.
David Married Martha Carrie Glenn in 1888 against the aproval of her family. The Glenn's being a very prominent family in White river township of Johnson county Indiana, her Grandfather Archibald II was a judge and one of the pioneers of the township and holder of several county government offices including Chairman of the board of Justices. her father Archibald III was postmaster general of the town of Glenn's Valley in Perry township of Marion county indiana.
