David Married Martha Carrie Glenn in 1888 against the aproval of her family. The Glenn's being a very prominent family in White river township of Johnson county Indiana, her Grandfather Archibald II was a judge and one of the pioneers of the township and holder of several county government offices including Chairman of the board of Justices. her father Archibald III was postmaster general of the town of Glenn's Valley in Perry township of Marion county indiana.

in the 1820's David Henry left his wife. Leaving her to live with thier Daughter Margaret (Mrs Manley Brown) and David never having legally divorced Carrie, contravercially took a lover 28 years younger (the widow LuLu Quillen-Smith) with whom he spent his remaining years and next to whom he is burried with matching headstones.
