Mrs. Carruth was born on February 27, 1930 in Gibson County to the late Lonnie and Hattie Fly. She was a 1947 graduate of Milan High School. Betty was active in church ministries, church choir, Mustard Seed, a member of the Steadfast Sunday School class and a member of the First Baptist Church for most of her life. She was a member of the DAR society. Betty was co-owner of Dixie Packaging Company with her husband, John C. Carruth Jr.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John C. Carruth Jr. and their son, Robert Jeffery Carruth. Mrs. Carruth is survived by her sons, Dr. Larry W. Carruth (Cynthia) and Dr. James C. Carruth (Leslie), both of Jackson, TN, John M. Carruth of Medina, TN; a daughter, Jan Carruth Ward of Limo, OH and two sisters, Dorothy Fly Appleton (Billy) of Milan, TN and Joyce Fly Middleton of Indianapolis, Indiana. Betty also is survived by eight grandchildren: Dr. Stephanie Kurita (Nathan), Eric Carruth (Natalie), John William Carruth, Clay Carruth, Zach Ward, Kristen Ward, Nathan Ward and Kyle Huston and two great-grandchildren, Marin
and Maddox Kurtia.
In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 2000 Second Street, Milan, TN 38358.
