Eugene Robert "Bob" Eye of Shirley, Missouri was born June 17, 1931, in Shirley, Missouri, a son of Alice (Fitzwater) Eye and the late Ace Eye, Sr. "Bob" as he was known by family and friends departed this life Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at the St. Louis University Medical Center, at the age of seventy-three years, three months and eleven days.

Bob was baptized in the waters of our Savior on November 23, 1952, at the White Oak Grove Church, Shirley, Missouri by the Rev. Ralph Wayne Gibson. He remained a member of the church his entire life.

Bob was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Golden on April 17, 1981, in Potosi, Missouri and they made their home in the Shirley, Missouri area.

Bob is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Eye of Shirley, Missouri; mother Alice Eye of Potosi, Missouri; one son, Rickey Eye of California; three daughters, Franny Hawkins of Potosi, Missouri, Sandy Moore and husband Ken of Wentzville, Missouri and Robin Jenkins of Potosi, Missouri; three sisters, Lois Ann Swireck and husband Roger of St. Louis, Missouri, Lowayne Streckfus of Potosi, Missouri, Peggy Whitnah of Potosi, Missouri; two brothers, Tillman "Tim" Eye and wife Nedra of Potosi, Missouri, Ace Lynn Eye and wife Lisa of Halles Corner, Wisconsin; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Theresa Golden of Potosi, Missouri; special friend, Barbara Jean Brashire of Shirley, Missouri; special cousin and friend Bill Doss of Shirley, Missouri, good friend, Bill Ball of St. Louis, Missouri and by many other relatives and friends.

In addition to his father, Bob was also preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Eye.

Bob served this country in the United States Army. He enlisted September 28, 1950, at Fort Hood, Texas, served during the Korean Conflict, and received three Campaign Stars. He was attached to the "C" Company 44th Engineer Construction Battalion. Bob received an honorable discharge on September 3, 1951, at Camp Carson, Colorado.

Bob enjoyed working around the area in the construction trade.

He loved spending time working in his garden and tinkering in his garage.

He would relax watching western TV shows.

Bob was very proud of his grandson Dustin Hawkins for following in his footsteps and going to serve this country in the United States Army.

Bob had a great love for his family and his life; he enjoyed every moment spent with each of his family members and his many dear friends.

Visitation was held Wednesday, September 29, 2004, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, September 30, 2004, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 30, 2004, at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Melvin Reed officiating.

Musical selections played were "Amazing Grace," "I'll Fly Away," and "Go Rest High on That Mountain."

Final prayers and burial were at the White Oak Grove Cemetery, Shirley, Missouri.

Serving as pallbearers were Dale Golden, Brandon Hawkins, Ace Lynn Eye, Chad Gibson, Eric Shane Streckfus, and Seth Gibson.

Full military honors were given by the Washington County VFW Post #6996 assisted by the Missouri Funeral Honors Team for Bob's faithful service to his country. Honors included the twenty-one gun salute, "Taps," folding, and presentation of the American flag.

Services were entrusted to the care and direction of the Moore Funeral Home, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
