DR. DERIVAN OF FOX LAKE IS DEAD AT 83

Dr. Henry (Ben) Derivan, Fox Lake, died Saturday of an apparent heart attack at his mobile home. He was 83.

A retired dentist, he practiced in Sioux City and Mason City, Iowa. He was born Nov. 12, 1883, in the Town of Trenton, Dodge County, the son of Thomas and Margaret O’Bryne. He served as a captain in the medical corps during World War I. He never married.


Dr. Derivan is survived by one sister, Mrs. Harvey Hodgson, of Fox Lake. He was preceded in death by four brothers.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Kraatz Funeral Home, Fox Lake. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fox Lake, Rev. John Mikolajczyk officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Fox Lake American Legion Robert Ginther Post 521.
