Ruth M. Benifiel
Ruth M. Benifiel, 99, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Major Hospital.
Born Sept. 21, 1909, in Switzerland County, she was the daughter of John Wesley and Mary Emma (Bascom) Dennis. She married Virgil Benifiel on July 22, 1934, and he preceded her in death on May 14, 1976.
Survivors include sisters, Lucy Borradail, Esther Ramsey and Mary Louise (husband, Melvin) Tinsley, all of Shelbyville, and Julia Chwala of Saginaw, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Eugene Dennis, Loren Dennis and John Dennis; and sisters, Naomi Buchanan and Grace Robertson.
Mrs. Benifiel was a lifetime resident of this area and a homemaker.
She also was employed by Morristown Church of the Nazarene as a cook and janitor.
Mrs. Benifiel graduated from high school in Centerville.
She was a member of Morristown Church of the Nazarene.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Huff officiating.
Burial will be in Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County.
