HENRY J. DENNENY of Dale Avenue died Sunday at Rhode Island Hospital.
He was the husband of Theresa E. (Kearney) Denneny and also of the late Alice M. (Donahue) Denneny.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Henry F. and Katherine (Bowen) Denneny, and had lived in Cranston for the past 48 years.
He had been a salesman for a number of firms including the Congdon & Carpenter Co., Steel Sales & Service and Nightingale, Baker and Salisbury Steel Co. for more than 40 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a master sergeant in World War II, serving in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters.
He was a member of the Cranston Council Knights of Columbus 1738 and a member of the St. Matthew Holy Name Society.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons*, twin daughters,** a sister, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Helen Cassidy and Ann Touchette.
* Robert J. Denneny, 70, son of Henry and Alice, husband of Jean M. (Kerwick) Denneny, died March 21, 2019; survived by a daughter, a son and four grandchidlren; no place of burial listed in his obituary.
** Judith L. Denneny, daughter of Henry and Alice, married Ronald L. Handy; she died April 21, 2015 in Warwick. She was survived by her husband, two daughters, a son, four grandsons, a great-granddaughter, her step-mother, her twin sister and two brothers.
