Mrs. Virgie May Bachtell, wife of Earl R. Bachtell, died at her home near Smithsburg yesterday afternoon at 1:20 o'clock of chronic myocarditis, after an illness of 2 years, during which time she was bedfast five months. She was a lifelong resident of the Smithsburg section and an active member of the Beard's Lutheran Church, Chewsville. She was a daughter of Daniel and Louise (Crailey) Dayhoff, Chewsville. Besides her husband, the following survive: Children, Edward L., Smithsburg; Mrs. Howard L. Bowers, Los Angeles, Cal.; Edna and David E., at home; brothers and sisters, Al S. Dayhiff, Hulmesville, Pa.; D.K., York, Pa.; Mrs. Reuben Ridenour, Cavetown; J.R., Annamosa, Iowa; Harry W., Huntington Park, Cal., and five grandchildren. Funeral Saturday afternoon, services at the home, Rev. I.D. Worman officiating. Interment in Smithsburg cemetery.
