DAVIS
Fern I. Anderson Davis was born Aug. 16, 1905 to John Frank and Della Arnold Anderson and passed away at the Chariton Manor Jan. 11, 1988 at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 26 days.
She was raised in Lucas County, attended rural schools and graduated from Chariton High School. Fern taught rural schools in Lucas and Wayne counties for many years.
On April 15, 1928 she married Leonard A. Davis. During their marriage they farmed in Iowa with the exception of three years in Knoxville, Tenn.
When Leonard passed away in 1967, Fern's love for the farm and the outdoors kept her there at which time she also worked at the Odem Hatchery in Chariton.
Aging years brought another change, sale of the farm and a move to Chariton where she retired. Here she maintained her own apartment until ill health in November of 1986 brought the move to the Chariton Manor where she passed peacefully away.
Fern enjoyed life and her many times spent with family and friends. Most of all she enjoyed the country drives and visiting in the homes of her family. We will always remember her generous and fun loving ways.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, one sister, Myrtle and one brother, Ivan.
Surviving are one sister, Opal, many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1988 at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Stein officiating. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were nephews: Earl Anderson, Robert Shanks, John Shanks, Ed Shanks, Larry Shanks and Gail Shanks.
