She was born June 30, 1909, in New Hope, a daughter of the late Joseph M. Early and Mary Susan (Leonard) Early.

She was a life-long member of Bethany-Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waynesboro.

Lois was educated at Longwood College in Farmville and taught the elementary grades in the one-room Trinity Lutheran School in Crimora. She was involved in all forms of parish activities, including teaching Sunday school, and was a member of the Ladies Aid Society and L.W.M.L. of Bethany-Trinity Lutheran Church. She was also active in the Augusta County Home Demonstration Organization.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Coyner, on Jan. 25, 1979; a daughter, Rebecca Coyner Hopkins, on Dec. 22, 1999; and a sister, Ruth Ramsburg, in November of 1979.

Survivors include a son, a sister, a brother, four granddaughters, five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A private burial service will be conducted at Trinity Lutheran Church cemetery, Crimora, by the Rev. Don Morthole. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in Bethany-Trinity Lutheran Church in Waynesboro by the Revs. Phil Ressler and Don Morthole. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the Friendship Room of Bethany-Trinity Lutheran Church.
