Ida Mae Rees, 83, of Granbury, Texas, formerly of Sioux City and Wabash, Ind., died Monday, July 26, 2004, at the Trinity Mission Hospice Center in Granbury.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Home in Wabash, Ind. Arrangements in Texas were under the direction of Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.

Mrs. Rees was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Wabash County, Ind.

She graduated from Ball State Teacher's College with a bachelor's in education and held two master's degrees from the University of South Dakota. Her teaching career spanned 25 years in both Wabash and Sioux City high schools.

She was married to the Rev. Oscar W. Rees in Wabash County in 1940. From 1951 to 1956, she served with her husband as missionaries of the United Methodist Church in northern India.

She was a member of the Sioux City First United Methodist Church, the National Education Association, the Sioux City Retired Educators Association, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society and Coterie Study Club.

She is survived by four brothers; three sisters; four children, Larry Rees of Chelan, Wash., Karen Bleeker of Granbury, Texas, Duane Rees of Bellevue, Wash., and Dennis Rees of Omaha; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years; and two brothers.
