One of the oldest inhabitants of Wyoming County, of the town of Orangeville passed away at the home of his son, Bert Cook. Born in Cattaraugus county, the son of Esek and Lucinda Cook. Coming to this county at the age of 1, he has been a resident of the town of Orangeville since that time, and for the past 60 years has resided on the old homestead where he died. A man of high Christian ideal, Mr. Cook carried the respect of all who knew him. As a friend and neighbor Mr. Cook was one who believed in the fellowship of man and put it into practice. His long residence in the community in which he lived made for him many friends who will be saddened to learn of his death. Mr. Cook was married in 1846 to Amanda Shipman who died in 1910. Survived by 2 daughters, and 4 sons, Mrs. Lucinda Fisher and Mrs. Alice Hoagland of Perry; Wilbur Cook of Mt. Morris; Adelbert Cook, Lamont; and Bert Cook with whom he made his home; 22 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Laura Peck of this village is a sister. Member of the Methodist Church.
