CHARLESTON - Charlene Sandra Collins entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 6:30 pm in the Medical Center of Plano, Plano, Texas.

She was born on December 10, 1942 in Charleston, South Carolina, a daughter of Charles Edward and Dorothy Poplin Collins. Charlene graduated from St. John's High School, Class of 1960, University of Arizona, Class of 1964, received a Masters Degree in Microbiology from the University of California at Fullerton, and an Interior Design degree from the University of California.

She married Dennis Rubey on April 2, 1966 and later divorced. Charlene worked as a Medical Technologist in Blood Banking for over 20 years before making a career change to medical equipment planning.

She began her own business, Collins Equipment Consulting, in 2004. Her great loves were her family and friends, traveling, music, nature and wildlife.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Deloris Dell Collins Koger 1936-2010

Surviving are her sister, Judy (Bob) Blommer of Ottumwa, Iowa; nieces, Deborah Atkinson of Mt. Pleasant, Monica Allen of Goose Creek and Anne Blommer of Chicago, Illinois; nephews, Robbie (Margaret) Koger of Hanahan, John Blommer of Chicago, Illinois, and David Blommer of Juneau, Alaska; great nieces, Detra (Travis) Kelly, Jessica Atkinson, Victoria Atkinson, Bailey Koger and Mackenzie Koger; great nephews, Greg Allen and Hayden Koger; great-great-nephews, Joseph Kelly and Zachary Kelly; many adored cousins and their families; best friends forever, Margaret Hearn and Sally Frazier; friend and business associate, Sherri Bryant and her family; her beloved dog, Sassy and, of course, the HaHa Sisters.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 19, 2011, at 11 AM at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL with visitation with the family beginning at 9:30 until time of service. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery. The Rev. Doug Cotton will officiate.
