Ada E. Collins, 82, passed away on September 28, 2012 at a local medical center. Funeral services will be 1:00p.m., Monday, October 1, 2012 in the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 7 to 8:30p.m. at the funeral home.

Ada was born March 24, 1930 to Grady and Georgia Cook in Jones County, TX. She attended schools in Noodle, Sylvester, and nursing school. She graduated nursing school and went to work at Hendrick Hospital.

Ada loved people, dancing, and traveling and had visited many countries. She also loved Christmas. For many years she put on a Christmas display at her home on Sayles Blvd. Children loved the animated Christmas dolls and would come back year after year. They would bring their children when they had grown.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, Waylon, Grover and James Cook; her sister, Laverne Powell; and her son-in-law, Terry Greer.

Survivors include her husband, David L. Collins; daughters, Gayle Greer, Sharon Smith and her husband, Jimmy; her son, Rickey Reed and his fiance;, Valinda Tatom; six grandchildren, April and Brian Reed, Craig Campbell, Tina Cruz, and Brad and Tracy Greer; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Billy Jean Dooley and Aleta Allred and husband, Delbert; and many nieces and nephews.
