JAMES E. COOK, SR., 89, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2003, born on July 8, 1913 in Sylvester, Texas to Grady Jefferson Cook and Della Jewel Coggins Cook. Mr. Cook was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson Junior High and Central High School of Houston, Texas, he attended seminar classes in advanced tool grinding at Texas A & M and the University of Texas. Retired in 1978 as superintendent of the grinding department-Ball Valve Division of Cameron Iron Works, Inc. following 39 years of honorable service. Member and Past Master of SP Waltrip Lodge No. 1328, A.F. & A.M., Charter member of J.W. Chandler Daylight Lodge No. 1452 A.F. & A.M., Grand Representative of the State of Texas to the Grand Jurisdiction of Chile, member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Council No. 347 R.A.M and Chapter No. 424, R.A.M. and Life Member of Rutven #2, Knights Templer of Texas. Mr. Cook was a Past Patron of Spring Branch Chapter 984, OES and dual member of Bastrop Chapter 64, OES. Preceded in death by his son, Claude. Survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Lena Maye Nix Cook; sons, James E. Cook, Jr., M.D. and wife, Carol, Rev. Clyde T. Cook and wife, Connie; grandchildren, Cindy Ballaro, Kelly Gauger and husband Mark, Chris Cook and wife, Karen, Kimberley Ann Wagner and husband, Rudy, Karen Sue Selldin and husband, Gary, Katherine Maye Cook; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Brandon Gauger, Matthew Ballaro, Madison and Mackenzie Selldin, Francoise and Gautier Wagner and Tyler Cook; brother, G.C. Cook and wife Mary; sisters, Laverne and husband, Billy Powell, Billie Jean and husband, Johnce Dooly, Ada Earl and husband, David Collins, Aletha Faye and husband, Delbert Allred.

Visitation with the family present will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2002 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Waltrip Funeral Directors. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M., Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood, with Rev. Clyde T. Cook and Dr. Duane Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of the Masons of Cameron Iron Works, Inc. and Rick Wood, our good neighbor. Active pallbearers are Johnce Dooly, Darrell Forgarty, Max Grisby, Terry Harris, Howard Hudgins, Latham Kerley, Robert Langford and Gerald Mitchell. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the Tallowood Baptist Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
