REGRETTABLE DEATH
Ida Frances, elder daughter of the late Amos B. and Martha E. Cole, wife of T.C. Anderson, died Saturday evening at 7:45 at the family residence, .. East Fourth street, of acute bronchitis.
A number of years ago she was afflicted with asthma to the extent that her husband thought the family might have to leave this location to obtain permanent relief. She recovered, however, so that she was affected only occasionally and slightly from the trouble.
Early in the week she had taken a slight cold, which affected the bronchial tubes to a small extent but not so seriously as to alarm her or any of the family, or the attending physician.
Friday afternoon the family were so unfortunate as to be compelled to bury her second grandson, Thomas, son of Charles L. and Bessie L. Frederick, and she was unable to attend the services, which worried her more, perhaps than was anticipated by her family.
She rallied after the return of her husband from the services and passed a reasonably easy night.
Late in the afternoon of Saturday, she had an attack which was supposed would be similar to the one of the day before. Her bronchial tubes had been affected more seriously than was apparent, and she did not respond to medical treatment. Ida passed away so suddenly that most of her family who were at home did not even think her condition serious. She breathed her last without a struggle.
The news of Mrs. Anderson's death spread rapidly over the city Saturday night and many homes were cast in gloom by the sad news.
She is survived by her husband and seven children, Clifford B., Bessie L. Frederick, Martha Kate Jordan, Lollie L, Charles L., Mary E. and Hayward M. all of whom reside in the city. Also by her mother, Mrs. Martha E. Cole, who makes her home with her daughter. A sister, Mrs. Lollie F. Duduit, and three brothers, Omer V. Cole of Seven Troughs, Nev., Charles C. Cole at Seraton, Pa., and Amos Spencer Cole of East Second street, Portsmouth.
She was born February 7, 1855, and was married September 21, 1876. Her entire life has been passed in this city, having lived 31 years at the present residence. Her life speaks for itself.
Services will be held at the family residence at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, with interment at Greenlawn.
