Death Claims Kennard Woman, 80

Two Sons And Husband All Preceded Her; Rites Were Saturday

Mrs. Christena Miller, 80, died on Jan. 17 in Kennard, the community which had been her home since 1884. Funeral rites were held at the Kennard Methodist church, Saturday afternoon, the Rev. A. W. Clarke of Arlington officiating.

Born in Gylling, Denmark, on May 31, 1864, Mrs. Miller came to the United States when she was 17 years old. She settled in Blair, but following her marriage to Nels Miller in Sept., 1884, she made her home in Kennard.

The Millers were the parents of two sons, Leonard, who died 35 years ago, and Elmer, who passed away three years ago. Mr. Miller preceded his widow in death nearly 47 years.

A member of the Kennard Methodist church since Aug., 1897, Mrs. Miller was first president of the Kennard Methodist Ladies Aid.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Elsie Miller of Kennard; a brother, Hans Peter Christensen of Blair; two grandsons, Leonard Miller of Omaha and Marvin Miller of Beatrice; and a granddaughter, Mrs. LeRoy McCann of Kennard. She also leaves an adopted daughter, Mrs. Morris Anderson of Kennard.
