KENTUCKY STANDARD OBITUARY - 07/01/1996
Chester Chesser, 81, of Washington County, died Friday, June 28, 1996, at his residence. He was a native of Washington County and the son of the late Harvey Lee and Effie Cook Chesser. He was a farmer, a member of the Chaplin Baptist Church and a former employee of the Nelson County Cooperative Tobacco Warehouse. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Daisy Lee Byrd and Addie May Chesser. He is survived by his wife, the former Virginia Elder; a daughter, Mrs. Owen (Marie) Lewis of Willisburg; a son, Autry Lee Chesser of Chaplin; two grandchildren, Leah Tipton of Hardinsburg and Wendy Chesser of Chaplin; and 11 nieces and nephews. He and his wife celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on Feb. 18, 1996. The funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Brother Alan Witham, pastor of Highland Baptist Church in Henderson, will officiate, assisted by Brother Jeff Fuller, pastor of Chaplin Baptist. Burial will be in Highview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Norris Sims, Mike Lewis, Terry Tipton, Gerald and Roy Byrd, and David Elder.
