She was the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary (Bunty) Carbaugh.
Kit was a 1940 graduate of Eichelberger High School in Hanover. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover, the Littlestown Senior Center, AARP, National Council of Catholic Women, The Forget-Me-Nots, and served as a Girl Scout leader for many years.
She was the wife of Charles Roy "Mort" Ackerman, who died July 15, 2006, and surviving are two daughters, Faye Brummett of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Pamela McMaster of Hanover; a son, Kevin Ackerman of Hanover; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Drago, Angela Freeze, Ben McMaster, Josh McMaster, Beau Brummett, Brett Myers, Cory Ackerman, Jordan Ackerman, and Devon Ackerman; and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Francis J. and Joseph B. Carbaugh, and two sisters, Marie Kittelberger and Helena Harner.
