Fay Brown, 91, of Caldwell, died Monday, Feb. 6, 1989, at a Nampa nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Bishop Dan Norman of the Caldwell Third Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Services are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mrs. Brown was born June 24, 1897, at Vernal, Utah, the 10th child of 11 children born to James H. and Sarah A. Henry Campbell. She was reared at Roosevelt, Utah. She married John Henry Brown, Aug. 15, 1917, at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They were married by Joseph Fielding Smith. During their marriage they moved many times. They came to the Parma-Nyssa area where they farmed. They came to Caldwell In 1926 where they farmed in the Pleasant Ridge area and in 1940 they moved to Wilder. They returned to Caldwell in 1944 where they had since resided. Mr. Brown died March 20, 1984.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the LDS Church and had served as First Counselor in the Relief Society in 1928 and again in 1934. She loved quilting and had made a quilt for each of her grandchildren as they graduated from high school.
She is survived by a son, Lavon H. Brown of San Francisco, Calif.; six daughters, Creola (Mrs. Albert) Verzello of Sanger, Calif., June (Mrs. Joseph) Bunt of Boise, Una (Mrs. Glenn) Chaney of Merldian, Mary (Mrs. Evan) Gheen of Caldwell, Wilda (Mrs. Milton) Laws of Boise and Billie (Mrs. John) Scherer of Caldwell; 26 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin, a daughter, Alice, a granddaughter and 10 brothers and sisters.
The family suggests memorials be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund.
Mrs. Brown's family will met friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell.
