She was the daughter of her mothers 1st husband, Harvey J. Pate and the adopted daughter of her mother's 2nd husband, Roger Franklin Cain, Sr.
Her mother was age 15 when she married Harvey J. Pate on 3 June 1933 in Madison County, Florida. She divorced Harvey at the age of 17 in 1935 in Hillsborough County, Florida. Harvey was born abt 1913 in Texas.

Patricia Cain Barnes -WINSTON-SALEM, NC-Patricia Cain Barnes Retirement
Community, passed away Friday, March 16, 2007. Pat grew up in Lake Wales, FL with her
parents, Roger and Louise Cain. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held a! later
date. -She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Donald "Don" W. Barnes, AIA,
Winston Salem. After graduating from lake Wales High School Pat attended Wesleyan College,
Macon, GA. While there she met Don. Predeceased in death was a small child, Donald W.
Barnes III, who died in 1955. Surviving are three children, Ashley Anne Reed of West Palm
Beach, FL, Roger (Justin) Barnes of Wendell, Donna Lee Barnes of Raleigh; grandchildren,
Grayson and Dory Barnes, Sarah and Rachel Reed; one great granddaughter, Christina; a brother,
Roger Cain Jr. of Chicago; and sister, Anne Stovall of Lake Wales. -Don and Pat operated The
Lamplight Restaurant in Macon, GA for seven years before moving across the country to
California in 1964. While there Pat managed the Women's Faculty Club on the Berkeley
Campus, supporting a growing family while Don was a graduate Architecture student at the
University. Pat became a Cafeteria Manager with Wake county Schools when Don joined the
School of Design Faculty at NC State. She later worked for the Poultry Science Department
until they retired to Florida and the mountains of North Carolina. In 2000 they moved to
Winston-Salem. -In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Avery County Humane Society,
1824 Branch Rd., Newland, NC 28657 or a charity of your choice. Online condolences
