Born in Tarheel, N.C., on March 21, 1911, he came to Lake Wales in 1919. He and his brothers owned and operated Cain's Parts and Service for many years. He served two terms as president of the Lake Wales Rotary Club where he was a more than 60-year member and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. He was recently given a lifetime achievement award plaque from the Rotary Club. He was named Pioneer of the Year in Lake Wales in 1997. He led the singing for the adult Sunday school department and services at Ridge Convalescent Center for many years.
Mr. Cain was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Cain. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Greene Cain; son, Roger F. Cain Jr., Evanston, Ill.; daughters, Patti Cain Barnes, Winston Salem, N.C., Ann Cain Stovall, Winter Haven; sister, Dorothy Halas, Key Largo; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Lake Wales Cemetery.
