Isaac Benton Coon, son of [Isaac] Newton and Helen [Cobb] Coon, was born near Bedford, Iowa, July 11, 1871.

His father died when he was four years old, and he was reared by a stepfather, John Coon. He had always resided in the same community of his birth, where he made and retained many friends.

In 1897 he was married to Treva Hamilton and a son was born to them. This companion died in 1899, while little Loy was only seven months of age, he, too, following his mother in 1902.

During the year 1900 Mr. Coon was married to Minnie John. To them two daughters and three sons were born.

He leaves his wife, two sons, Virgil and Howard of Bedford and a daughter, Mrs. Esther Reith of Denman, Nebr. Also two grandchildren, Morris and Helen Coon of Council Bluffs; a sister, Mrs. Cassie Reed of Bedford and a brother, Oscar Coon of Loveland, Colo.

Homer preceded his father in death Jan. 27, 1936 and Beulah in 1923.

Mr. Coon had lived at one farm home owned by him for twenty-six years. He was jovial by nature, a good mixer with both old and young. He was energetic, honest, hospitable and sympathetic.

When young he united with the Church of Christ at Berea, to which faith he was loyal. He was a deacon of the Berea church for 25 years.
