Services for Georgia Lynn Chain were held Sat. Dec. 4, 1999, in the Oakwood Auditorium with her grandson, Paul Brown, and the Rev. Bradley Jones officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Haigler Funeral Home.
She was born Sept. 12, 1915, near Oakwood, to Otto & Mary Edith (May) Brandly. She passed away Dec. 1, 1999, at the Okeene hospital at the age of 84 years and 2 months.
She started to school at Little Robe and later attended school at Oakwood, where she graduated from high school in 1932. She attended college at Northwestern State in Alva.
Georgia married George Franklin Chain April 21, 1934.
To this union were born three sons, Franklin, G. O., Orin and three daughters, Emily and twins Colleen and Connie. They lived and raised their family on their farm 2-1/2 miles northwest of Oakwood. Georgia was a faithful member of the Oakwood Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; one son, G. O.; one granddaughter, Kristie Irwin; one grandson, Bradley Roberts, her parents, Otto & May Brandly; three brothers, Charley (Fritz) Brandly, Forest (Johnny) Brandly and Cecil (Jim) Brandly, and three sisters, Bertha Haigler, Thelma Brandly and Serena Fisher.
She is survived by two sons, Frank and his wife Velda and Orin and his wife, Pam; three daughters, Emily Stinson and husband, Joe, Connie Roberts and husband Charles and Colleen Brown and husband, David, all of Oakwood; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one sister, Clara Craig of Madera, California; one brother, Harvey Dean Brndly of Oakwood and several wonderful nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
