George Franklin Chain, son of Frank and Bessie Chain, was born June 14, 1913, near Oakwood in Dewey County. He died Wednesday, July 23, 1986, at an Enid hospital. He was 73.

He spent his lifetime within one-half mile of his parents' homestead where he was born.

He married Georgia Lynn Brandly, April 21, 1934, at Watonga. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on April 21, 1984.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia; two sons, Frank and Orin Chain; three daughters, Emily Stinson, Colleen Brown and Connie Roberts, all of Oakwood; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Iona Stephenson Nodland, Medicine Lodge, Kan., and Aline Cargill, Isabel, Kan., and a brother, Lorin Chain, Grants Pass, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, G. O., and a granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 26, at the Oakwood School Auditorium with Clyde Irving and Howard Faerber officiating. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Redinger Funeral Home, Seiling.
