Sylvania - Mrs. Bessie D. Byrd, 91, of Brooklet, died Tuesday at Sylview Nursing Home after a long illness.
The Bulloch County native had lived in Brooklet most of her life and was a member of Savannah Atlantic Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Eula Akins of Brooklet, Mrs. Hester Williams and Mrs. Yvonne Kendrick, both of Savannah, Mrs. Eunice Mills of Sylvania and Mrs. Wynelle Greenway of Fort Pierce, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Gussie Swan of Augusta; two brothers, Perry Donaldson of Hollywood, S.C. and Grady Donaldson of Columbia, S.C.; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Upper Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church with burial in Red Hill Cemetery.
Smith-Tillman Mortuary of Statesboro is in charge.
