Harold Gene Brown, 68, died on Dec. 5, 1999 in North Salt Lake, UT of kidney failure.

He was born on October 1, 1931 in Mt. Trumbull, AZ to Alexander Arthur and Cora Etta Van Leuven Brown. He was the eighth of nine children. Gene grew up in Hurricane,

UT, where he was active in school and the LDS Church. He later moved to Las Vegas, NV, where he worked in the construction trade as a teamster for 42 years.

He married Esther A. Moore on April 9, 1955 in Las Vegas, NV. They were the parents of seven children. She died in 1987. He married Carol Ann Wolfe Clawson on January 22, 1989 in Las Vegas, NV. Gene valued his membership in the LDS Church and held many positions. He served as executive secretary, ward clerk, Stake missionary, Seventies president and Scout leader.

Gene is survived by his wife, Carol, of North Salt Lake, UT; four daughters, Kathy (Robert) Parks of Las Vegas, NV; Cynthia of Provo, UT; Bonnie of Salt Lake City, UT; and Sandra of Las Vegas, NV; three sons: Robert (Susan) of Lehi, UT; Steven (Jill) of Provo, UT; and David (Debbie) of Hurricane, UT; stepchildren: Beth (Frank) Sano, Merri (Leon) Rich; Barbara (Jeff) Carrillo, Melanie (Bill) Inskeep, Becky Clawson and Cory (Stephanie) Clawson; nine grandchildren and 17 step-grandchildren and one great-grandson; sisters: Pearl Stout of Hurricane, UT; Dorothy Smith of Beeville, TX; Mildred Thacke of St. George, UT; and one brother, Lewis (Betty) of St. George, UT; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esther; and brothers, Oliver, Arthur, Donald and Sidney.

Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999 at 12 noon at the Hurricane 8th Ward, 155 East 1050 North, Hurricane, UT. Interment: Hurricane City Cemetery.
