Graveside service for Edna Brodie McKenzie, 69, of Whitehouse are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at Williams Cemetery in New Chapel Hill with the Rev. Donnie Barron officiating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mrs. McKenzie passed away on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital emergency room after a long hard fight.
She was born on Jan. 9, 1940, in Wright City, Okla., to the late G. A. and Opal Brodie.
She grew up in Tyler and graduated from Chapel Hill High School. She lived in Sulphur Springs for 40 years and Whitehouse for three years. She was a Baptist. She was a No. 1 Skipbo player. She was a mother with a heart of gold, an exceptional cook and a fantastic hair dresser for 40 years. Hair cutting was her profession and her passion; her patrons loved her for this. Her favorite pastime was fishing and enjoying it with her family. Most of all she adored her loving family. The Lord called you home Mom; you will be missed, but never forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Mack McKenzie; and a niece, Ginger Brodie.
She is survived by her son, Chip Williams and wife Lisa of Bullard; daughter, Carla Hopson and husband Brad of Whitehouse; son, Mark Moore of Paris; sisters, Charline Meadows of Tyler and Mary Morris of Sulphur Springs; brother, Gordon Brodie of Sulphur Springs; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Phillip Rowe, Willie Williams and Clay Williams, all of New Chapel Hill. Grandsons who will serve as pallbearers are Tyler Garrett Williams, Justin Dominy, Zach Dominy, all of Bullard, Brandon Hopson and Connor Hopson, both of Whitehouse, and Zach Moore of Daingerfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East Texas American Cancer Society, 1301 S. Broadway, Tyler, 75701.
