Survivors include his wife Odessa Brewton, of Crockett; children Rickey Brewton and wife Rita, of Katy, Cathy Awbrey and husband Stephen, of Elk City, Okla. and Susan Smith, of Clear Lake; seven grandchildren Stacy Nickerson, Jason Brewton, Shannon Musick, Michael Smith, Lara Hall, Stephanie Carnes and Jeremy Smith; four step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren Shelbi Nickerson, Colton Nickerson, Courtland Awbrey, Haleigh Musick, Drake Carnes, Kate Carnes, Haley Smith, Benjamin Brewton, Emma Carnes, and Luke Brewton; 11 step-great-grandchildren; brother Floyd Brewton, of Crockett; sisters Bernice Stubbs and Sybil Reynolds, both of Crockett; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by her brothers J. T. Brewton and Waymon Brewton; sisters Wilma Cook and Mary Oliver; and half brothers E. T. Brewton, Homer Brewton, Bud Brewton and Frank Brewton.
Funeral Services for Mr. Oneal Brewton were held Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Mr. Bill Jeter and Mr. Mike Gilson officiating. Military Graveside Services followed in the Porter Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 1100 W. 49th Street Room #G408, Austin, Texas 78756.
