Georgia Coleman Brewer, 87, of Lubbock, passed away March 26, 2009. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2009, in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 2 p.m. at Grand Court Retirement Home.

She was born Dec. 20, 1921, in Atlanta, Ga. She was a graduate of Girls H.S. in Atlanta, Ga., Mars Hill College, N.C., and the University of N.C. at Chapel Hill. She was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Lubbock, had worked with handicapped children and Meals-On-Wheels, and had served as the Executive Director of the West Texas Chapter of the American Lung Association.

Survivors include her son, Stephen A. Brewer of Lubbock; two sisters, Irmeth C. Richards of Atlanta, Ga. and Eugenia Palmer of Smyrna, Ga.; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughter, Susan Gayle Brewer; and her husband, Arthur M. Brewer, who passed away Jan. 18, 2005.

The family requests that contributions be made in Georgia's memory to Lubbock Meals-On-Wheels or the Volunteer Dept. at Lubbock State School.
